The mood from Fox’s World Cup broadcast team has been a little off, to say the least, with the personalities of Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexi Lalas clearly rubbing shoulders.
The latest instance unfolded on Tuesday, but instead of Alexi Lalasinvolved another former US men’s national team player: Landon Donovan.
Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic took shots at Landon Donovan over his assessment of France’s performance against Senegal
During the broadcast of the match between France and Senegal, Donovan called France’s first-half performance “arrogant” and “relaxed”. Henry and Zlatan clearly disagreed. France won the match 3-1.
“I’ll skip that one” Henry said when co-host Rebecca Lowe asked Henry about Donovan’s halftime comments. “Because I just don’t understand. It’s not because you’re not 1-nil up or 2-nil up or 3-nil up after 15 minutes that those words have to come out. Let’s concentrate on the game. We all knew what was going to happen, people who know how Senegal can play and how Senegal is.”

“It’s not arrogance, its confidence,” said Zlatan after the match. “Ignorant people will say its arrogance. Intelligent people will say its confidence.”
