During his opening monologue on Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!joked host Jimmy Kimmel Donald Trumpambitious plans for independence day. In his characteristic style, Kimmel joked that Trump’s fireworks could end in disaster at the White House.

Kimmel’s skepticism follows Trump’s announcement to host “the largest fireworks display in history” near the “nation’s Capitol” to mark America’s 250th anniversary on July 4.

According to the National Park Service, the main Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall, which has been dubbed the “Salute to America,” will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display over the national monuments. Before the grand finale, the event is scheduled to feature a parade, live military demonstrations and a variety of other activities.

Kimmel suggested he had little confidence the administration could pull off the celebration.

“He (Trump) is going to burn the White House down,” the ABC personality declared as he read Trump’s post aloud to viewers.

“He wants all the fireworks. It’s going to be too many fireworks. He knocked over one half; he wants to burn the other down,” he said during the episode.

Kimmel’s joke comes amid broader criticism, with reports noting that Trump has placed himself at the center of national celebrations. He recently held a UFC fight night at the White House to coincide with his 80th birthday.

The Trump family also promoted a venture to benefit from the event by selling commemorative gold coins for as high as $12,000, according to CNN.
