Susan Boyle makes a shock TRNSMT appearance to support headliner Lewis Capaldi


Susan’s surprise appearance at Glasgow Green marked Lewis’ long-awaited Scottish comeback.

Susan Boyle surprised onlookers TRNSMT festival on Sunday night as she turned up to support Lewis Capaldi during his long-awaited comeback performance in Scotland.

Capaldi stepped away from the limelight for a period while dealing with health struggles, including mental health challenges, but marks his return to the stage with a closing headline slot at Glasgow Green tonight.

The Scottish crooner has just been in Italy and North America and said he was back on the road to play at TRNSMT when he posted a mural of himself swallowing Irn Bru on his Instagram. He added: “Good to be home, Glasgow.”

Susanwho has also seen her own comeback with her Cornetto track Just One (reMAXed) and Irn Bru Scotland song after a major stroke in 2022, was keen to give her support from the side of the stage.

She will be cheering on Lewis when he returns to Scotland’s biggest festival. Speaking exclusively to the Record from TRNSMT, Susan, wearing a Lewis Capaldi T-shirt, said she’d been a fan of him since he got his breakthrough. She said: “It’s good to give him a little extra support.”

Asked if she would join Lewis on stage, she said: “I’ll be supporting him from afar tonight… all the best for tonight, Lewis!”

Susan said she would “keep her fingers crossed” for a possible collaboration with Capaldi and joked it could be “something like the Cornetto ad”.

The two stars have formed a bond over the years through their shared personal struggles and their experiences navigating the pressures of the music industry.

The pair first made headlines together in early 2023 when a fan’s father mistook Lewis Capaldi for Susan Boyle on TV.

Capaldi, who is famously self-deprecating, responded to the hilarious comparison on TikTok with the caption: “I had a dream people stopped telling me I looked like women in the 60s”.

Boyle took it easy and later said she found him an “absolute sweetheart” with an incredible voice. The two even went to the same school, St Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn

An insider said: “Susan is a huge fan of Lewis and thinks he’s amazing. She feels she’s overcome a lot of challenges herself and would love the chance to do a duet or sing one of his songs. It would be a real honor for her to be there.”

She wasn’t the only one eyeing a collaboration with Lewis, as Perrie also admitted he had his sights set on the star. She added: “I will pursue him. Don’t worry.”
