Tennis legend Chris Evert cancels Wimbledon appearance and ‘professional commitments’ as she reveals return of ovarian cancer

Chris Evert have shared some sad news.

On her social media Thursday, the legendary tennis player announced to her followers that her ovarian cancer had returned in heartbreaking fashion. She wrote in the post:

“I have always believed in being open and honest about my health journey. This past weekend, after undergoing CT and PET scans, I learned that my ovarian cancer has returned.”

So sad…

She went on to say that she has “already had surgery as the first step” in getting treatment and will start chemo “in the coming weeks.” However, due to this development, she has had to make some changes to her future plans:

“Because of this I will not be taking part in Wimbledon this year and I will be stepping back from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus on my health.”

However, the 71-year-old sounds quite positive! She continued:

“Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will remain optimistic and determined to continue fighting this battle. I am deeply grateful to my medical team, my family, friends and everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.”

We send her so much love and healing! We’re glad to see she’s staying positive. See the full post (below):

If you don’t know, Chris first revealed that she had ovarian cancer in 2021. In 2023, she revealed that the treatments were successful and in January she was cancer free. But in December of the same year, her cancer had unfortunately returned. She hit it again, but now it’s back again.

Over 70% of patients with ovarian cancer will experience their cancer coming back, according to My ovarian cancer team.

We wish Chris the best and we hope all goes well as she fights this battle again.
