Young and restless are about to see some major fallout from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) gets her hands on it Chancellor and deliver it to Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) to run. This is infuriating some big and powerful people in Genoa City. And of course, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) didn’t tell anyone he handed it over, and now there’s going to be hell to pay.
Y&R: Lily’s Shocking Chancery Ownership
First of all, I’ve said that I was shocked that Lily actually ended up with Chancellor. Remember that was the deal she made with Victor. If she and her twins pretended to be kidnapped to forcing Cane to back off down, then she would get Chancellor. And if you call back before that, you might remember this. Victor made that deal to give Chancellor to Lily. This was even before he threw Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) out of the house.
And Victor had lied to Nikki and everyone else in the family about it Chancellor before and since. All the Newmans were sure of that Chancellor would be back in their hands when they got Newman Enterprises back from Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
They thought it was all coming back. And then one time Victor threw Nikki out, she said Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) she didn’t think she would run Chancellor ever again, even when they got it back. But at the time, Nikki and the other Newmans all thought it would still be back under family control. She just thought because of her split with Victor that Nikki wouldn’t be in charge.
Young and the Restless: Victor keeps his promise
So on Friday, Victor summoned Lily to the new ranch and made the documents, delivered Chancellor to her as promised. And if you remember, she had asked Victor about it since he got Chancellor back first. But he put Lily off and Victor said he couldn’t give it to her until he got Newman Enterprises back because until then he needed it. And I’m sure Lily thought Victor was going to back out of the deal.
So of course after he officially signed it over to Lily, we know Victor still didn’t tell everyone. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) knows because he was there in the room when Victor gave it to Lily. And Nick was very upset and said that this would kill Nikki.
Y&R: Victoria’s Fury and the Newman Family Fallout
More importantly, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) has been in progress Chancellor and Victor did not tell his daughter. And Victoria found that out in the worst way imaginable when Lily was happy about it. She said to Victoria, “I guess Victor didn’t tell you.” this happens by Shadow room launch. Then Victoria laments that she wants to run to her father. And Victoria said, “That can’t be true because Victor wouldn’t have done it without telling her because she’s been driving it.” And Victoria said to Lily, “Don’t feel comfortable. That company belongs to my mother.” And she insisted that Victor would reconsider.
But Lily clapped back, “Oh no, it’s a done deal.” And then Victoria had the nerve to say, “Would you do that to my mother?” And Lily laughed right up in Victoria’s face and asked, “Do you know what your mother did to me?” I remember Nikki and Victor both lying to Lily to her face over a period of months and wearing her down Chancellor when she was the one who helped them buy it out and promised she would drive it.
And so Victoria actually tried to offer her something else instead Chancellor. Lily said no, she has big plans. Victoria told Nikki can find something else to do. She is going to be in a health crisis. She didn’t have time for that anyway. But I also thought it was funny because Lily said goodbye to her and then just left. So I’m sure Victoria is going to tear into Victor. He won’t listen. But I think what will get his attention is that Lily gave it to Cane to run.
Y&R: Cane’s new role and Victor’s reaction
It has not been spread much yet, but it will become common knowledge very soon. Lily is still the owner, but I think Victor will be furious that Cane is responsible for it. But if the papers are signed, Victor will have to kick rocks, which I think is pretty funny.
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will obviously take sides with what Victor says. And plus, Adam really has no skin in the game. You know, Nikki is not his mother. So Nick is annoyed. And Victoria is outraged. And I don’t know if Nikki herself will be annoyed for a couple of reasons. First, she has given up the idea of running Chancellor because she is estranged from Victor. And secondly, she has this health crisis coming up. So Victoria is probably going to be a lot more angry than her mother.
Y&R: Billy Abbott’s opposition to the deal
But another huge negative reaction will come from an enemy of the Newmans, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). We know how much he always wanted Chancellor. He has been on fire ever since his mother Jill Abbott (Lauren Coslo) sold Chancellor to Victor it snapped right out from under Billy.
We know that Lauren Coslo is going to play the recast Jill in five episodes of Young and restless in just a few weeks just as the July sweeps start. So it might be related to some of this Chancellor thing. I think Billy will be happy that Victor no longer owns Chancellor and it’s out of Newman’s hands, but he might be bothered that Lily owns it. You know, maybe, maybe not.
But I could definitely see Billy getting annoyed that his kind of brother Cane is driving it. Now I fully expect Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) to stop working for Lily and Cane at Chancellor. And I think from there other powerful people like Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is going to burn. They’re probably going to complain and make accusations that Holden is trying to cash in on being Lily’s brother. But I bet she’ll tell Devon and Nate to save it. She wants Cane and Holden in her life.
Y&R: Billy’s Potential Countermove
But if Billy turns around and asks Cane to hire him at Chancellorthat’s where Lily is probably going to draw the line because Billy has been so colossal jerk to Lily. And of course Billy and Lily have been at it since she was involved in the deal for Jill to sell it to Victor. So if Cane is at Chancellor and Billy can’t be, we might see him whine and whine about it. And I’m sure Billy will complain to Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) about all of this.
Plus, there’s a June spoiler that says Billy finds out some powerful information and it makes him go after something he desperately wants, and Cane and Lily work together to stop him. So I wonder if Billy finds out why Victor gave Lily to Chancellor. If Billy finds out that Lily faked her kidnapping to trick Cane because Victor promised her Chancelloryou know, billy might use it against them, especially if jill comes to town and gets involved.
Young and the Restless: What Will Jill Do?
You know, maybe there’s a way for Billy to bring this to the attention of the police, like the Federal Trade Commission or something. Or maybe Jill sides with Billy and against Victor. I’m sure Jill won’t like Victor bothering Cane with a fake kidnapping. We know Jill loves Cane. So, you know, we’ll see.
Jill might think Lily doesn’t deserve it Chancellorand neither does Victor when she really finds out what happened because she really didn’t listen before. So maybe Jill can go back and claim fraud on her original deal with Victor as Jill was grossly lied to and misled by both Lily and Victor she saw would think the worst of Billy and be willing to rip it out from under him.
Y&R: The Battle Ahead for Chancellor
But clearly, whatever happens, Lily and Cane will work together to thwart Billy. And ultimately at this point I almost wanted to see Billy get it just to annoy Victor. If not, I’m happy Lily has it, just as long as Victoria doesn’t. Although I think that Victor already going to be furious when he finds out Lily wants Cane to drive it.
He may even come and try to make some threats about it. And with Victor targeting Cane using his new pet, Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), to do that we could see Victor also have him target Lily for getting close to Cane again and daring to let him run Chancellor. But Lily’s new view of Cane is understandable since he just saved her biological father Malcolm Winters’ (Shemar Moore) life. We’ll see, but things will be explosive all over Genoa City once the news spreads Chancellor changing hands again and who drives it.
