‘Down to Earth’ Lewis Capaldi keeps his promise to young fans at a concert in Dublin

One of the boys, who suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome, said Capaldi gave him the confidence to keep singing

Lewis Capaldi has kept his promise to two young fans in a heartwarming moment that started months earlier on Ireland’s The Late Late Toy Show. Best friends Keelan Tiernan and Dylan Bowe first appeared on the show back in December, talking about their love for Scottish singer.

During the program, Capaldi heard how much of an impact he had made on them, especially Keelan, who has Tourette syndrome and has spoken openly about how the singer helped him find confidence in his voice.

Keelan explained how much Capaldi meant to him by telling the host Patrick Kielty: “He encourages me to sing more and he also has Tourette’s like me.”

After hearing their story, Capaldi then surprised the pair with a touching video message as he apologized for not being able to be there to meet them in person as he was on tour in Australia at the time. Although he did promise the boys they would get the chance to hear him perform live when he offered them tickets to his concert in Dublin’s Marlay Park.

The promise came true on Wednesday night (June 24) when Keelan and Dylan attended the Dublin concert as VIP guests. But the surprises didn’t stop there.

The couple were treated like royalty, with a driver picking them up from their home and taking them straight to the venue, along with a police escort and fast track access to the concert grounds.

The experience escalated further when they were brought backstage just before Capaldi went on stage. There he surprised them in person, with the boys visibly emotional to meet their favorite singer.

The trio spent time chatting and taking photos before the boys were escorted to the front row to enjoy the show. Just when they thought they’d seen it all, Capaldi went one step further with an onstage shout-out.

At the end of one of his songs, he spotted the couple in the crowd and made sure the audience knew exactly who they were. “These boys in the front row, that’s Keelan and Dylan in the front row all of them,” Capaldi told the audience.

“Here they are,” he said as he pointed to the pair. “They are here today as my guests, they were at the toy show this year, very lovely. Good boys, lovely family and big round of applause for Keelen and Dylan all.”

The singer then dedicated his next song to the two boys, who cheered from the front row.

Capaldi’s efforts with the two young lads clearly did not go unnoticed, with Keelan’s mother later commenting on RTE’s Instagram post to personally thank him.

She wrote: “What an absolutely amazing experience, Keelan woke up this morning still buzzing, Lewis was brilliant with the boys so down to earth, everyone we met along the way yesterday was so sweet and welcoming to us all, we are eternally grateful.”
