‘£13 hair styling tool makes me feel like I’ve been to the salon every day’

The TRESemme Slim Ceramic Hot Brush has been a lifesaver saving my hair in the hot and humid summer weather as a no-frills styling tool that only takes minutes to get results

The Amazon Prime Day sale is well underway, with plenty of great deals to be found – including plenty of discounts on beauty must-haves. And if anyone, like me, is desperately looking for something to help tame their mane in this hot and humid summer we’re having, my best hair tool for the job is less than £13.

It can often feel like a losing battle when trying to tame unruly locks that seem to go between straight and curly, dry and greasy and flat and raised multiple times a day. Having tried many hair styling tools in the past only to find them a waste of money, I wasn’t prepared to spend a fortune on my latest endeavor to bring my child under control – so I chose TRESemme Slim Ceramic Hot Brush.

Currently on sale for just £12.80 on Amazon, this warm brush offers an easy way to style hair – equipped with just a power button and a slim curling barrel designed for short hair like mine, there was no need to fiddle with different accessories or experiment with temperature settings. As someone who favors a low-maintenance routine that takes as little time as possible, this was a winner.

I had never tried curling my hair at home before this – so I can say with authority that TRESemme Hot Brush is suitable even for complete beginners. In just 20 minutes on my very first try after watching a few TikTok tutorials, I was left with perfect bouncy curls that I had previously only had right after a trip to the salon.

Now I’m used to it, I can style my hair in five to 10 minutes – I simply turn on the hot brush, wrap my hair around it a few times and I’m good to go, with the curls holding until I next wash my hair. The only extras I needed were some sectioning clips I already owned plus a few products to hold the curls in place – I went for Bedhead After Party Smoothing Creamavailable for £7.09 on Amazon, and my favourite Boots Extra Firm Hold hairspray for £1.28.

This hot brush can be used to smooth frizz and create bouncy, long-lasting curls

If customers are tempted by top brands such as Dyson Airwrap or that Shark FlexStyle but can’t justify spending several hundreds of pounds, I’d highly recommend trying this budget-friendly alternative instead. It has made my life so much easier to run the hot brush through my hair instead of desperately trying to fight the frizz in other ways in this humid weather, taming fly-aways and making my locks look silky smooth within minutes.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind before getting one. I have short hair that falls around my chin, so I chose a narrow brush that was advertised as suitable for short styles.

For those with longer hair, this brush may be more time consuming and cumbersome to use. Some other models, although more expensive, come with different attachments to create a variety of styles, which in turn may be more suitable for long locks.

Some reviewers also complained about their hair getting tangled in the brush, which given its narrow design is a risk. I found a few tutorials from beauty influencers on social media to avoid this after a few kids tangle issues, so I’d recommend doing the same if this concerns avid shoppers.
