Alex Cooper has been in the news, with allegations about her company jumping into the headlines. The Call her dad podcasts, which boasts a loyal audience, has seen some disturbing claims made about Unwell Network, her production company. The company not only produces Call Her Daddy, but also other podcasts such as Extra Dirty with Hallie Batchelder.
A Vanity Fair feature on Alex Cooper’s Unwell paints a grim picture
There was quite a bit of drama when the influencer Alix Earle left the company after her Hot Mess podcast was discontinued. Feud rumors swirled and bubbled back to the surface recently.
In the end, Alex shared his take on the outcome via TikTok and addressed Alix directly. “I know what happened and so do you. So talk,” Alex said. “Unless the false narrative that you create happens to be far more interesting than the truth.” In addition, Alex faced rumors of marital problems with her husband, Matt Kaplanin the middle of her pregnancy.
However, reports of an allegedly toxic working environment at Unwell began to emerge. Matt was reportedly largely responsible for the operations of the company along with TJ Marchetti, who is the chief brand officer.
A former employee said so Vanity Fair“Matt will scream the worst things and say the nastiest things to you and Alex will be there next to him and not defend anyone.” Another source claimed that Matt brought employees to tears. “I’ve seen producers cry. He made (the) technical crew break down in tears,” claimed a contractor working on an Unwell production.
The source continued: “He threatened to withhold payment. What I found is that behind the scenes there is this man, her husband, running around wreaking havoc and making people cry, cowering (in) fear.” Meanwhile, one employee claimed that Matt was “definitely a flirty guy, but (I) can’t say I felt uncomfortable.”
They’re shocking claims, and a rep for Alex and Matt called them “false and outrageous,” concocted into a “meritless hit piece.”
