The Welsh singer went off the grid after a horrific kidnapping attempt.
Over 15 years after her disappearance from public view, Duffy was first spotted at a local cafe in North Wales earlier this week. Although it has been reported that the Welsh singer is set to return to music, she has kept a low profile over the past decade and a half.
This is as a result of the star enduring a horrific ordeal in the early 2010s where she was kidnapped, drugged and raped by her captors. Years after the heartbreaking events, Duffy said the four weeks of hell left her feeling suicidal.
Many fans of the 41-year-old have now shared their delight at seeing the star out after she was spotted at a cafe called Caffi Largo, which is just seven miles away from her home town of Nefyn, near Bangor. Duffy took time to pose for a photo with staff and looked glamorous on her casual outing.
Sharing her looks social mediawrote staff at Caffi Largo: “Spotted – Celebrity singer from Nefyn, Amy Duffy, popped into Caffi this morning. Always great to see local talent supporting local spots.”

A third person also commented: “Can’t wait to hear more music, fabulous voice.” With another social media user remarking: “Wow so nice to see her getting back to her roots.”
This comes as Duffy announced she will be holding an intimate concert in London next month. With the star set to make her return to music, many fans are crossing their fingers that they will be chosen to see what she has in store.
Sharing the message about her Instagram story, Duffy wrote: “I’m doing a secret intimate concert in London on July 5th next month and I’d love nothing more than some of you to attend.”
Noting where fans can share their details, she added: “It’s only a small capacity so we can only pick a few but really looking forward to it, I’ll be singing some new songs. All my love, Duffy x”
Duffy stopped releasing music back in 2011 and has not been seen in public until now after suffering through her kidnapping experience. After remaining silent for many years, the Mercy singer bravely opened up about her trauma back in 2020.
Duffy wrote on her website that she feared for her life when she was abducted from a restaurant while celebrating her birthday, reports The sun. The singer was then smuggled into a foreign country.
At the time, she wrote: “It was my birthday, I was drugged in a restaurant, I was drugged then for four weeks and traveled to a foreign country.
“I don’t remember getting on the plane and getting around in the back of a moving vehicle. I was put in a hotel room and the perpetrator came back and raped me.”
The singer is set to tell her story in an upcoming documentary about Disney+. The documentary promises “new, unprecedented access” to the Warwick Avenue singer.
Duffy will sit down to share her life story, both in public and away from the limelight. The documentary will also contain interviews with friends, family and music industry employees.
