How TRNSMT festival goers can watch the Scotland game in the country’s biggest fan zone

TRNSMT will return to Glasgow Green on Friday – the same day Scotland play their second World Cup game against Morocco

It’s another huge weekend for the country as Scotland’s biggest music festival TRNSMT return to Glasgow Green on Friday and Scotland play theirs second World Cup match.

The annual three-day festival is back on Friday, June 19, the same evening as Scotland’s World Cup team will return to Boston Stadium for their match against Morocco.

Festival bosses announced last month that they would be able to screen the play after efforts by residents to block the plan failed. Set times have also been changed to allow the match to be shown.

Main stage performances from Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Dylan John Thomas and The K’s take place on Friday night before headliner Richard Ashcroft takes to the stage at 20.45.

His 90-minute set ends at 10.15pm, just 45 minutes before Scotland’s game against Morocco kicks off at 11pm.

So if you’re going to TRNSMT on Friday night but are also keen to cheer Scotland on for the game, here’s how you can do both at Glasgow Green this weekend.

Where is the Scotland game shown?

Scotland v Morocco will be shown at Glasgow Green on Friday night on three screens after Ashcroft finishes his set.

The match will be shown on the huge 15mx8m main stage LED wall screen as well as the two side stage 8mx10m screens.

The commentary will also be played through TRNSMT loudspeakers, but DF Concerts insists it will be significantly lower than noise from bands who will be playing beforehand.

But the crowd is likely to be wild as this could be a historic game for Scotland.

McGinn’s goal on Saturday saw Scotland win 1-0 against Haiti and another win could potentially see us qualify for the knockout stages for the first time in World Cup history.

How big is the fan zone?

TRNSMT boss Geoff Ellis is creating the ultimate fan zone as the festival is set to become the headquarters of the Tartan Army.

The promoter received permission from the council and FIFA to screen Scotland’s match against Morocco at the end of Ashcroft’s set.

Tens of thousands of Scottish fans are expected to stay after the festival for what will be the biggest live viewing of the match in the country.

With a daily capacity of 50,000 at Glasgow Green, there will be more Tartan Army members in the park than there will be at Boston Stadium.

As the build-up to kick-off begins, Geoff will put on a couple of presenters yet to be announced and some football-oriented acts, including Cammy Barnes, who will lead the crowd in a rendition of the Flower of Scotland before the match kicks off.

Will there be food and drink?

Football and pints go hand in hand, so of course the bars stay open after the festival ends.

TRNSMT announced that there will be over 40 food stalls open throughout the day.

These include multiple cuisines such as pizza and pasta, Chinese, fast food, Indian, Mexican, Pan Asian, South American, desserts and sweets.

Bosses have confirmed that bar and food vendors will remain open, so people can still eat and drink until just after half-time. 23.45.
