Love Island viewers were quick to ask if they will return in the future
Fans of Love Island shared their concern over a “missing” star after the last episode.
ITV’s hit reality dating series is now in its 13th season and more dramatic twists on offer than ever before. This year has also seen a slight revamp of the companion shows that accompany the main series.
The official podcast that usually accompanies Love Island was revamped this summer and renamed The Debrief. Not only that, but it was updated to a video podcast format, given a dedicated time slot after each part of the main show and introduced three new hosts.
It now airs after Love Island on ITV2 and streams on ITVX every night Monday to Friday. Three of last year’s contestants, including winner Toni Laites, runner-up Shakira Kahn and third-place finisher Yasmin Pettet, were confirmed as the new presenters.
They also appear in companion show Love Island Aftersun, which airs on Sundays and is hosted by Maya Jama. While they all appeared together for Aftersun’s debut, one of the trio was notably absent for this week’s June 14 edition.
Minutes into the episode, there were numerous posts on social media asking, “Where is Shakira?” Another added: “I hope Shakira is ok since she’s not in Aftersun, you need to stop sending the girls hate for giving their opinions.”
Another suggested: “Shakira really needed to be on the #LoveIsland Aftersun panel this week to really discuss the Jasmine and Priya situation. The 3 people on the panel this week are incapable of having that conversation…”
Shakira is expected to have missed Aftersun this week simply because ITV changes the guest panelists every week. This means fans could be treated to her return in the next episode.
Meanwhile, Shakira’s recent activity on Instagram suggests that she is keeping very busy. On Sunday, she shared some recent snaps during a visit to Italy for an event.
She also echoed boyfriend Harry Cooksley’s posts on her stories as he enjoyed attending the Spanish F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona.
He was pictured being sprayed with champagne in front of the podium, while also walking around the pitch with a Sky Sports microphone.
It is not known if Shakira participated in the race with him. Although she commented on the post: “go baby gooo” and added in her story that she was “so proud”.
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
