The official release date of Shrek 5 will be 30 June 2027. Previously has Eddie Murphywho voices Donkey, teased a 2025 release date in a previous interview.
Who is in the ‘Shrek 5’ cast?
While Shrek the series has had its fair share of exciting actors lending their voices to the franchise, the original actors from the main cast cast will reprise their roles: Eddie as Donkey, Mike Myers like Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Antonio Banderas like Puss in Boots. Nothing has been formally revealed about the plot of Shrek 5 just yet, but there was a bit of a teaser for it in a post-credits scene from 2022’s Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. At the end of the film, Puss could be seen sailing back to Far Far Away, which he was first introduced in Shrek 2.
What has been said about ‘Shrek 5’?
While details are scarce for Shrek 5Eddie was the first star to talk about it publicly. In the aforementioned Collider interview, the comedian revealed that he had recorded the “first act” about four or five months prior. He also had some exciting news for fans of his character. “Donkey is going to have his own movie. We’re going to do Donkey, too,” he said, though he said he hadn’t started recording the audio for it.
After teasing for Shrek 5 in Puss In Boots: The Last Wishco-director Joel Crawford had talked about hoping the Easter egg would get fans excited for more in an interview with SyFy. “Honestly, when we did the story, we put it in a hopeful way. We love it Shrek universe (and) we are so happy to be able to continue the story of Puss in Boots. We were really hopeful that, ‘If the audience receives the film and wants more of it Shrek world and demand more, then we can go to Langt Langt Väk. We do not know of any master plan. We were kind of like Perrito, we were like, ‘Let’s be hopeful!'” he said.
