Simone Biles hits back at critics of her going on holiday after saying she almost died.
The 29-year-old gold medal-winning Olympic gymnast shared earlier this month that she almost died of a medical emergency.
Over the past week, she began sharing photos from a vacation in Belize and was met with criticism for going on the trip after her medical event.
“Nearly died but look at these traveling selfies….” one user commented a post.
Simon responded, “ugh, these comments make me sad. A little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal and appreciate being here.”
“I hope you understand that life changing experiences can change your perspective. & that you are able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward,” she continued. “have a nice day!”
Simon and her NFL husband Jonathan Owens took a trip to Belize, and she shared several photos from their vacation, as well as a “5 minute beach makeup” video.
Since her medical emergency earlier this month, Simon has yet to say more about what happened after first saying “I’ll explain sooner or later.”
