The Love Island star confirms how long dumping takes – and fans won’t expect it

EXCLUSIVE: Gabby Allen has lifted the lid on behind-the-scenes secrets, including early morning filming

Gabby Allen continues to watch Love Island for almost ten years after making his debut in the series – although she has far more behind-the-scenes knowledge than most viewers.

The 34-year-old TV personality has appeared across several hit shows since audiences were introduced to her in 2017. Her most recent appearance was on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating, which followed her win on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Gabby came back to ITV last year for Love Island: All Stars Season 2, emerging triumphant with former partner Casey O’Gorman.

With two seasons under her belt, having experienced both Mallorca and South Africa, Gabby appreciates the dedication the islanders show in creating captivating television.

In a chat with the Daily Record, she revealed that contestants occasionally get up in the early hours to record segments that take up just five minutes of the broadcast.

She explained: “Dumping or relinking always takes hours,” adding: “You’re literally awake at 4 in the morning, especially if it’s a public (vote) because they have to get all the votes in.”

Despite the lengthy build-up, the dumping itself unfolds just as quickly inside the villa as it appears on TV. The emotional reactions that follow are completely genuine, reports OK!.

Gabby elaborated: “When people get dumped after only a day or two and people are crying and you see the reactions from the public saying ‘Why are they crying, it’s only been two days?'” (It’s because) you build such strong relationships with people very quickly in there.”

She continued: “I always get a little bit of a backlash because I’m like, ‘No, these people actually care about each other, and it’s really hard to send someone home. Because you also know that you’ve been waiting weeks and weeks to get into (the villa) and nobody wants to go home.’

Gabby spoke to us to highlight Scoliosis Awareness Month, a medical condition she was diagnosed with at the age of just 12.

Scoliosis involves an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine that can be corrected through surgery.

The TV personality underwent surgery on her spine while she was still in her early teens, which left her with a noticeable scar on her back. The visibility of this scar became a source of self-consciousness for Gabby, especially during her formative years as she matured.

But now she shows it confidently and aims to encourage others to feel just as comfortable revealing their own surgical marks.

The latest season of Love Island is now streaming on ITVX
