The Girl of Steel is the next DC Universe hero to gain the spotlight.
Seam Supergirl opens in theaters this month, the first round of reactions for the DC Studios film has finally surfaced online.
ScreenRant’s own Ash Crossn shared how “I’m really digging #Supergirl. Milly is excellent and I’m also a hot mess who latches onto work.”
Mary Sue’s Rachel Leishman commented how the film “is everything I wanted it to be. Girls can be messy and that rules! Kara is not her cousin and I really loved how this movie makes that clear. She’s a different hero and perfect in every way.”
Den of Geek’s David Crow informed that the DCU rate is “the superhero movie I’ve been missing: a straightforward, poignant story with lots of emotion, especially when we see Kara through little Ruthye’s eyes. Fortunately, every scene is action. Milly Alcock absolutely owns the role and will change our idea of Supergirl forever.”
Multiverse of colors Breeze Riley celebrated Milly Alcock’s solo adventure as “a fun and surprisingly emotional journey that will make you fall in love with Milly Alcock’s version of the hero. The film successfully establishes Kara’s identity independent of her cousin while still creating continuity and expanding the DCU.”
ComicBooks Chris Killian revealed in his thoughts, “If you threw GOTG, True Grit and Mad Max into a DC blender, you’d get #Supergirl – a dirty, fun, yet surprisingly dark space adventure. Milly shines, especially when we get into Kara’s tragic backstory, but Jason Momoa is having the time of his life as Lobo, makeup and design also want to highlight, makeup. Everything Oscar-level looks incredible and my goodness strengthens this film, what top casting David Corenswet is Every time he’s on screen, you can’t help but smile.
Junior Felix stated that Kara’s 2026 story absolutely “SUPER! Milly Alcock is the perfect Kara. This movie is full of beautiful scenery and dazzling action sequences. Momoa IS LOBO, but I wanted more of him. The scenes with Clark are priceless. The third act is F’N fun. The future is bright with this Supergirl.”
