After a frustratingly quiet period, Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally entered an active marketing phase again. Developer Rockstar Games ignited fans’ interest by announcing it pre-orders for the game kicks off on June 25, and the news was accompanied by a reveal of cover art following the franchise’s iconic panel style.
However, another revelation that accompanied this news was not broadcast in quite the same way. Rockstar also released a snippet of previously unseen gameplay footage, and despite an incredibly short runtime, the new clip highlights just how big Grand Theft Auto 6‘s open world map of Leonida will be.
X user HYPEX shared the new clip from the official Rockstar games website, which contains eight seconds of fresh footage in total. In the video, the camera pans backwards across the metropolis of Vice City, offering an aerial view of the skyline illuminated against a twilight sky.
This is not the first wide shot of Grand Theft Auto 6but it provides the clearest look yet at the scale of Vice City itself. With boats speeding through the waterways, cars driving around the streets and helicopters flying overhead, the city appears undeniably alive even from a distance. A tower crane can also be seen at the end of the video, teasing ongoing construction throughout the game similar Red Dead Redemption 2s dynamic development over time.
While there isn’t too much to glean from eight seconds of footage, GTA 6 fans have become desperate for new material. Hopefully the drought will end soon, as the impending pre-order window suggests that long awaited third trailer is probably on its way.
If a trailer corresponds directly with the opening of pre-orders, it should arrive on Thursday, June 25th. However, Rockstar usually releases trailers on Tuesdays, so it can pre-order pre-orders with a trailer on Tuesday, June 23rd. Previously, parent company Take-Two Interactive only revealed that marketing would increase in the summerwhich left the community unsure if a trailer would arrive in June or if radio silence would continue until August.
Living up to the players’ gigantic expectations will be a challenge for GTA 6but if the new footage is anything to go by, it’s certainly a step up to the scale of the challenge. Hopefully, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s gigantic map of Leonida will be filled with the detail and variation necessary to truly bring its vast scale to life.
