Michelle Buteau shares her thoughts on the big news involving her show, The circle.
The 48-year-old comedian hosted all seven seasons of the Netflix reality competition series from 2020 to 2024, but the show has been on hiatus since then.
It just was announced that Hulu has picked up the show for a new version that will feature both civilian competitors and celebrity contestants. There will also be a new audience voting aspect, for the first time in the US version, and will be “reimagined” as a “quick turnaround” social experiment.
That’s not all, it’s set to be set in real time!
The new version of The circle will “bring ordinary players and celebrities to compete side by side in a popularity game where identity is constantly changing and everyone can be anyone. Basically, contestants move into separate apartments in the same building, but are kept isolated from each other. They are only allowed to communicate through a specific app using text and images, but they can decide to play the game as themselves or anyone.”
Michelle Buteau reacts to See what’s happening live
While appearing on the Sunday (June 21) episode of Bravo’s See what’s happening live talk show, Michelle was asked about the news.
“I’m happy about that The circle found a new home because it’s a great show. I hosted the American version, the longest version for seven seasons, and I put my foot in it, my back, my back fat, my right breast, I put all the things in it. But they’re not going to go through with me hosting and so I say, good luck, blessings, I hope you have fun putting a square in the circle,” she said. Watch below.
