Staying true to its reputation on the show, Craig acknowledged that his initial assessment of the famous ballroom dancer was far from complimentary and admitted that he Anton looked suspicious himself as the “king of the ballroom”. He noted, “Well, I have to say, my first impression of you, I thought you were really, like, stuck up.

“I thought you were, like, above your station,” he elaborated, while Anton joked that he was actually “way over.”

Craig continued: “Oh, look, he thinks he’s the king of the ballroom; look at him. And then of course I got to know you a bit better. And I changed my mind because I loved what you did with Ann Widdecombe. I thought it was brilliant.”

“And how you actually treated, you know, your dance partners, I thought was really, really good. I kind of took it the wrong way with you, actually, because you’re not stuck up at all. In fact, you’re the opposite.”

Anton saw laughed that he “wouldn’t go that far”, although Craig said his fellow judge was “grounded”. Craig also admitted that it was crucial to developing their friendship as he doesn’t like people who are “not grounded”. Anton replied: “I love that.”

Craig, coming from Australian city of Ballarat, has been a fixture since the program launched in 2004, while Anton went from professional dancer to judge in 2021.

Separately, Craig has revealed why he has been “living in a caravan” earlier this year. In addition to the program, Craig and his partnerJonathan Myring, are renovating their £2 million 7-bedroom mansion in King’s Cliffe, Northamptonshire.

After purchasing the 1867 home in 2021, they began renovation shortly thereafter. Eight months earlier, they were in the “demolition phase” and expected completion in August.

Craig has previously revealed how there were “no external walls at all” and how he “lived in a one-up-two-down” annexe, “basically the size of a caravan”.

As of April, his temporary lodgings were apparently still modest.

He told The Mail’s Richard Eden: “I’m living in a caravan at the moment. It’s cheaper than storage.”
