Anne Diamond is emotional as she delivers a sad update on co-star Eamonn Holmes

Anne Diamond gave TRIC Award attendees an update on her GB News co-star Eamonn Holmes, who said he is ‘not very well’ as the presenter missed the awards

Anne Diamond updated fans on her colleague Eamonn Holmes’ health as the presenter missed this year’s TRIC Awards. Taking to the stage at the event at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Tuesday, June 23, Anne shared the news of Eamonn’s absence.

She said: “There are a few people who would love to be here but can’t. Eamonn Holmes is not very well at the moment but he is fine, he is recovering and we hope he will be back with us very soon.” GB News won the award for best news program for the fourth consecutive year.

Presenter Eamonn, 66, continues to deal with health problems which have left him in a wheelchair. In April, Eamonn suffered a stroke, but told fans at the time that he was fine.

In 2016, Eamonn underwent surgery on both hips to relieve chronic hip, leg and back pain. But while he was recovering, he fell down the stairs in his home and broke his shoulder.

He then suffered from a painful viral infection. At the time he attributed it to the stress of a tax dispute with HMRC. The infection caused a severe rash on his face and had the potential to affect his vision.

In May 2022, he had serious back problems that led to bladder and bowel problems and a nine-day hospital stay. And in November 2022, he suffered a fall at his home in Surrey and broke his shoulder, requiring another operation. He continues to explore various treatments, including spinal injections and considering stem cell replacement therapy, in an ongoing effort to regain mobility.

Last year Eamonn accepted the award for Best News at the TRIC Awards. But as he proudly accepted the award on behalf of GB News Breakfast, he was booed by some in the crowd. After using a wheelchair ramp to access the stage, Eamonn expressed his gratitude to the production team and viewers.

Despite the mixed reaction, the Northern Irishman delivered a touching tribute to co-presenter Charli Peters, who had previously won the news presenter award for her investigative work nurturing gangs in the UK.

And he also paid tribute to a colleague, but the end of his speech soured after an audience member heckled Eamonn to ‘get off’.

Although it was not known if Eamonn heard it, he finished his speech warmly. He said: “For the thousands of people who voted, it’s brilliant for us, so we say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who bothered to vote.”
