Billy Ray Cyrus is opening up about where things stand with his family after years of public speculation surrounding reported tensions within Cyrus clan.
In a new cover story with Peoplethe 64-year-old country singer reflected on reconnecting with his children, saying the family is focused on moving forward after a difficult period.
Billy Ray Cyrus reflects on family healing
Despite years of headlines about possible rifts in the family, Billy Ray said he is proud of his children and looking forward rather than dwelling on the past.
“Life is a series of adjustments and I think my family always knew that. We’ve all been through a lot and we’ve seen a lot. Whatever happened is in hindsight,” he said. “The past is over. The future is what we have and we must look forward.”
His comments come after years of fan speculation about his relationship with several members of Cyrus family after his divorce from Tish Cyrus.

Recent projects suggest that family ties may be getting stronger.
Earlier this year, Billy Ray and daughter Miley Cyrus reunited to record Disney+’s upcoming Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special that marks a nostalgic return to the franchise that did Miley a well-known name.
Billy Ray also worked closely with son Braison Cyrus on his upcoming album The hillwith Braison acts as producer and co-author on the project. Meanwhile daughter Noah Cyrus appears on the record for a duet entitled “On Our Way Along”.
“All these years later, it goes back to our roots as a family,” Billy Ray told the outlet. “And to be in this moment with them, it’s just a great celebration of our family.”
Billy Ray Cyrus is looking forward to a new chapter
The singer’s upcoming album The hill marks its first new record in 14 years and arrives on June 16.
Billy Ray also shared that he feels optimistic about both his personal life and career after once believing that retirement might be in his near future. These days, he says he’s embracing a new chapter with his girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley.
“What more can I ask for? I have nothing to complain about,” he said. “I like how everything looks right now. I finally found this wonderful place where I’m happy.”
