Britney Baker’s Germany support turned into an international debate as fans around the world rallied behind their own teams.
Britney Bakeer picked a World Cup team and immediately learned that international football loyalties are not a random topic.
On June 8, the social media star posted a clip to Facebook with a simple question: “Am I rooting for the right team? 👀”

Judging by the black, red and gold face paint on her cheeks, the German jersey tied over her denim shorts and the sea of matching flags around her, most fans thought the answer was obvious. However, the comments section had other ideas.
England supporters lobbied for the Three Lions. A Spanish fan made his case for La Roja. A Dutch supporter lamented that she had chosen Holland’s arch-rival, then vowed to support her anyway. Votes poured in for Brazil, Scotland and France, along with more than one wounded “Why not Argentina?”

The Germans were of course delighted. “From a German, the answer is yes,” wrote one, while others welcomed her as if she had just scored the winning goal.

It’s not entirely clear what ties Bakeer to the quadruple world championships, but it’s not the first time she’s turned up to cheer. For the past few weeks, she has appeared in a knotty Nationals top on one Braves game and a yellow Villarreal jersey during a rainy match against Valencia. Whether it’s game-day content or just a highly engaged sports era, the fits keep on coming.

The timing doesn’t hurt. The World Cup runs through July 19, which means the tournament is barely getting started. Plenty of famous faces have already caught the fever, including OnlyFans creator Yanet Garcia, Croatian model Ivana Knoll and Brazilian influencer Carolay Chaves.
Germany, meanwhile, has given Bakeer a pretty good reason to stay loyal. The team opened with a 7-1 win over Curacao, followed it up with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast and will face Ecuador on June 25.
