James Van Der Beeks daughters got some quality time with him while he worked on his latest role.
As you may have heard, James’ final on-screen role will feature Prime video‘s Legally blonde prequel series, Elle. out July 1. He was supposed to be a recurring character, but unfortunately died shortly before the second season started filming due to cancer. So, so sad.
This role will of course mean a lot to many people, but to his daughters it is even more special. On Tuesday, show-runner Caroline Dries spoke at the NYC premiere of the show. In a new video recorded by Peopleshe gushed at James’ dedication to his final role. She also revealed that his daughters were on set with him during filming:
“He took his daughters to perform, he sat with us on plastic folding chairs in the video village, he made us laugh, he told us stories and he showed us nothing but kindness.”

She continued in an interview with the outlet, saying it was “really special” to see James being “a dad” behind the scenes:
“At a point in the season when you start to get tired, the hours are long, and it was so much fun to have (his daughters) around to be so positive and so invested and curious about everything. They were Legally blonde fans and also the blondest girls I’ve ever seen.”
She even revealed that this was their first time ever on a real movie set! Caroline said:
“They had never been on set before, which surprised me. They had never seen Dawson’s Creek, so they didn’t have … The fangirl that I was for James, they didn’t understand that.”

In a later post, James’ wife Kimberly Van Der Beek reposted the premiere video of her Instagram Storiesand revealed the daughters got to spend time with their father on set Emilia10 and Annabelle12:
“Emilia and Annabel had the pleasure of being with him separately. They treated the children beautifully and he was so proud of this role… especially as his daughters looked forward to seeing it!”
Aww! What special memories these girls have. Our hearts continue to be with James’ wife and children.
