Earlier this month, Ivanka opened up about her decision to step away from public service after serving as a senior adviser during her father’s first administration.
Talking about David Senra’s podcastshe said she now has a better understanding of the demands that come with public service.
“Now I’m in a new part of my life,” she said. “I know for me that the first time I could theoretically imagine (public service) would be intense. But now I know how intense it is.”
She added that her children remain her top priority: “I know you can’t screw up and I know my kids really need me there for them. And I’m not willing to make them make the sacrifice of serving again.”
During Donald Trump’s first term, Ivanka worked on initiatives including legislation aimed at combating human trafficking and expanding paid family leave.
