Shania Twain gets incredibly candid about the “unhealthy” habits she picked up while adjusting to a changing body.

In an interview with The Times out on Sunday, the singer recalled that she went to extreme lengths to get “skinny” during her stay in Las Vegas in 2019. The now 60-year-old sadly recalled:

“I stopped looking at myself in the mirror. I hated my body.”

She now realizes that was a red flag:

“I’m like, ‘Oh, I can’t stand this changing body.’ But it was so unhealthy. Who can’t look at themselves in the mirror?”

It can be hard for anyone to accept bodily changes, especially when things are out of their control!

The Man! I feel like a woman! The artist said her body started to change as she got older and despite sticking to her normal routines, she didn’t see the same results:

“Then all of a sudden I’m bloated and I’m definitely not in control. I can’t just lose five pounds.”

And that’s when she decided to do “very unhealthy things” to lose weight, she elaborated:

“I worked my body more than I fed it to keep up with the load.”

But this change, which was meant to help her “be thinner”, resulted in her becoming “malnourished” and contributed to her injuring herself on stage. Oh no! Sounds like she definitely took it too far!

Now, the one Grammy the winner had a complete change of heart and is actually grateful for menopause! She said:

“Now I’m like, put the mirrors on, I want to look at myself all day long! Menopause has been very good for me because I’ve learned that some things you can’t control.”

And let’s not forget, she looks amazing! Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes – and at all ages!!

This is something Shania really came to terms with in 2022 as she showed off her “new body” by now wearing a shirt in the album art for her single Waking Dreaming. She told People at that time:

“It’s me expressing my truth. I’m comfortable in my own skin and this is the way I share that confidence.”

She added:

“I was just so unashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman (who is) well into my menopause. I’m not even emotional about it; I’m just OK with it.”

Hoof! What an incredible journey she has been on with her body image! We are sure there are so many women who have faced similar struggles as they have grown. Hopefully Shania’s newfound confidence inspires everyone on their own journeys!
