Love Island fans are torn over a ‘crazy’ decision as the World Cup clash causes chaos


The latest episode of the ITV dating show aired as England took on Croatia in the World Cup

Love Island fans faced a dilemma as the latest installment clashed with England playing at the World Cup.

Dating serieswhich is hosted by Maya Jama, started earlier this month and it is typically forwarded ITV2 at 9pm, with viewers gripped by the updates from the villa.

But fans don’t know what to do on Wednesday night (June 17) as Love Island was broadcast at the same time as England took on Croatia in the football World Cup.

Many posted messages on social media admitting they were torn, with one asking X: “So how do I choose between watching England play the World Cup and watching Love Island?”

“Do I catch up on Love Island to watch England’s World Cup match?” mused another on the platform that used to be Twitter. Another fan asked: “What am I watching today, Love Island or the World Cup?”

One person wrote: “Love Island UK has lost its mind being on when England play a big World Cup game. Love Island UK will have their lowest ever audience tonight, crazy to be on when a big game is on.”

“Watching the World Cup and Love Island together and being on Twitter is an extreme sport,” one fan joked.

Others suggested Love Island fans should tune in to the football instead.

“Dear Love Island fans around the world, forget your show for a moment,” said one. “Keep your eyes on the World Cup. It’s coming home.” “Enough with this Love Island s***… the WC is on,” said another viewer.

“The World Cup is on, Love Island can wait,” said another.

However, others thought otherwise, with one fan of the dating show insisting: “It’s more important not to see England play in the World Cup than Love Island.”

Several fans of both shared how they avoided the clash.

“Love Island and the World Cup got us another TV,” admitted one viewer, while another said: “This Love Island x World Cup double screen.” “Football one screen, Love Island on another like crazy,” said one fan.

“Got the WC playing on the TV and Love Island on my phone,” shared another.
