Here’s everything worth knowing about the star’s past relationships.
Who was Keeley Hawes’ first husband?
London-born Hawes initially came to public attention during the 1990s with supporting appearances on shows including Heartbeat and Our Mutual Friend.
She married cartoonist Spencer McCallum in December 2001 and they welcomed a son, Myles, although she left the Surrey home they had shared.
The couple had been in a relationship for four years and speculation suggested she had left him for her current husband.
Night & Day weekend magazine coverage quoted the actress as saying, “The most painful thing was that Spencer and I were such good friends.
“I was in my early twenties when I met him. We were best, best friends, then the lines got blurred. We had Myles and getting married seemed like the natural thing to do.
“When I decided to leave my husband, nothing had happened between Matthew and I. I’m sure no one would think we never had an affair, but we really didn’t.
“It wasn’t love at first sight. It was a slow burn. It started as just a feeling and then suddenly, at the end of it all, I realized I had fallen in love with him.”
She went on to reveal that she is still on good terms with Spencer and his family, having previously told The Standard: “Spencer’s parents have been phenomenal with my kids. And Spencer is a good friend of my family now. We’re all grown up.”
Who is Keeley Hawes married to now?
Hawes tied the knot with Matthew Macfadyen, her Spooks co-star, in November 2004 and the couple share a son and daughter together.
Macfadyen, 51, rose to fame as Mr. Darcy in the beloved 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.
The acclaimed actor is also widely recognized for his roles in Succession and of course Spooks, where he portrayed Tom Quinn.
Opening up to The Independent about the early days of their romance, she recalled: “Matthew just came out and said, ‘I love you’, in the rain one day. I was like, ‘Oh honey, here we go’.”
Full of admiration for her husband, she gushed: “I think he’s absolutely brilliant in Pride & Prejudice and it’s very difficult to judge your own partner, I find it almost impossible.
“But I see it, and I think he’s such a brilliant, generous actor to work with — and to watch. He’s really wonderful. And I don’t think anyone is very good.”
She married Macfadyen at Richmond-upon-Thame Register Office while she was seven months pregnant.
Upstairs Downstairs can be streamed on Netflix.
