Should you bake chicken nuggets on a tray?

When you throw away a lot chicken nuggets in the oven you expect a quick, easy and delicious meal. But for a TikToker, this snack transformed into chaos.

Denver TikTok user Abby Smith (@abbyyyssmith) began the video in shock. “I was just making some chicken nuggets, I was just taking it out of the oven to flip them and a bunch of black liquid was just spraying out of this corner… all over my apartment,” she said.

As she says this, the camera zooms out. Black liquid can be seen dripping from the walls and pooling on the floor. “I’m actually at a loss for words,” she admitted.

“I don’t understand how this happened,” she added, showing users the black drops on the sides of the kitchen. She then picked up the tray that was in the sink as more black liquid dripped out. “Like, what the hell.”

“I know it’s double insulated, but that’s literally never happened to me in my entire life,” Smith continued. “And my mother gave me this forehead and had it in my childhood, all my life.”

The video was accompanied by on-screen text that read: “Things that happen to me when I’m already overstimulated.”

Obviously someone didn’t follow McDonald’s homemade chicken nugget recipe.

BroBible reached out to Smith via TikTok direct message.

What did commenters say?

The comments were very opinionated.

“Dear, pans aren’t that expensive,” wrote one. “People hang on to these things like their wartime savings bonds. Treat yourself to a new forehead, girl.”

“It’s a two-layer (insulated) baking sheet that’s great for cookies,” another pointed out. “It won’t be dishwasher or soaking safe. I wouldn’t use it for chicken poultices. It looks nice too, so maybe replace it.”

A third agreed, writing: “Slump, rust, germs spilling out of a rusty corner hole from being so old lol time to get a new pan best.”

While a fourth laughed: “Girl that was the dipping sauce for nugs.”

What was that?

An additional commenter wrote: “Raw dogs in the pan without foil was a choice.”

In response to this, Smith made, among other things, one follow-up to set the record straight.

She started with the forehead itself. Smith said that while she was aware that the pan was typically used for baking/cooling, it was what she considered to be a “pan of last resort.” She had previously washed the pan a few months ago but didn’t realize it was still a little wet. Due to the time frame, the water oxidized, which is why it is black.

She also assumed that the pressure and heat from the trapped water caused it to boil over.

Moving on to the foil discourse, Smith defended not using the kitchen item. She argued that repeatedly using it was a waste. On the other hand, as she noted, people had not used foil for centuries before its invention.

However, there was one criticism she understood. It was the fact that she only had seven nuggets in the pot. Smith agreed that she should probably invest in one, though she noted that she made a chicken salad wrap.

Still, she said she appreciated the back-and-forth and apologized for “triggering” people.

“But let this be a lesson to you,” she continued, “that way, if you ever get into a double-insulated pot, make sure you get all the water out of it or it will explode on you.”

Philadelphia Eagles Chicken Nuggets flop even harder

This is not the first nugget-based disappointment to come online recently.

Back in September, Tyson rolled out so-called Eagle-shaped chicken nuggets. This was part of a broader NFL promotion celebrating some of the hottest teams in the league.

Along with the Eagles chicken nuggets, other themed nuggets in tribute to the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers were also rolled out.

But when TikTok user Bailey (@bailohay218) laid the nuggets out on a baking sheet to cook them, she noticed something unusual.

“I thought I’d surprise the girlfriend with eagle-shaped lumps, but they don’t give a bird….” text on the screen reads.

Meanwhile, the TikTok itself shows the disappointing appearance of the gold nuggets, as they are roughly shaped and barely fit the description of an eagle – or any bird, for that matter.
