Anne Diamond delivered an emotional health update on Eamonn Holmes at the TRIC Awards, revealing the GB News host is ‘not very well’
Anne Diamond gave an update on Eamonn Holmes’ health after the presenter was unable to attend this year’s TRIC Awards. Speaking from the stage at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, she informed the attendees of his absence.
She said: “There are a few people who would love to be here but can’t. Eamonn Holmes is not very well at the moment but he is fine, he is recovering and we hope he will be back with us very soon.”
GB News secured the award for best news program for the fourth consecutive year. Last year Eamonn collected the best news award on behalf of GB News Breakfast, although his moment of triumph was overshadowed by some negative reactions from the audience.
After using a wheelchair ramp to reach the stage, Eamonn thanked the production team and viewers. However, the event was marred by audible boos from certain attendees following the announcement of GB News Breakfast’s win.
Despite the mixed response, the Northern Irish presenter delivered a heartfelt tribute to fellow presenter Charli Peters, who had previously received the News Presenter Award for her investigative work nurturing gangs in the UK, reports the mirror.
He also paid tribute to a colleague, although the end of his speech turned awkward after an audience member told Eamonn to ‘get off’.
Whether Eamonn caught the heckle or not, he ended his speech on a warm note, saying: “For the thousands of people who voted, it’s brilliant for us, so we say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who bothered to vote.”
His latest absence comes as the GB News presenter, 66, continues to battle health problems that have left him confined to a wheelchair. In April, Eamonn suffered a stroke, although he assured fans at the time that he was fine.
Back in 2016, he had surgery on both hips to relieve chronic pain in the hips, legs and back. During his recovery, he fell down the stairs in his home and broke his shoulder.
He subsequently endured a painful viral infection, which he attributed to stress caused by a tax dispute with HMRC. The infection resulted in a severe rash on his face and threatened his vision.
In May 2022, severe spinal problems led to bladder and bowel complications, resulting in a nine-day hospital stay.
Then in November 2022, a fall at his home in Surrey left him with another broken shoulder, necessitating further surgery. He is currently exploring a number of treatments, including spinal injections and stem cell replacement therapy, as he continues his battle to regain his mobility.
