England captain Harry Kane kisses his hand in celebration when he scores a goal – and there’s a sweet meaning behind the gesture
The 2026 World Cup has kicked off, with England starting their campaign against Croatia on Wednesday 17 June. And football fans have noticed the English captain Harry Kane wears a white bandage around his ring finger and kisses it when he scores a goal – and there’s a sweet reason behind it.
Harry is said to be kissing the white bandage on his ring finger as a sweet gesture towards his wife, his childhood sweetheart, Kate.
After Kane was seen kissing his ring to celebrate a goal in celebration against Aston Villa back in 2019 – the year he and Kate married – she took to Instagram to share a photo of the moment with a love heart as the caption.
One social media user previously pointed out: “For a while I wondered – what’s wrong with Harry Kane’s finger? He always has a white bandage on one finger.”
But the fan then discovered that he “kisses it when he celebrates” and soon realized that Harry was strapping a bandage over his wedding ring during matches. The fan continued: “That’s his ring finger. Can’t wear rings when you play so he does that instead every game”.
Another fan earlier took to X to say: “It still melts my heart that Harry Kane kisses his wedding ring every time he scores.” Another added: “Harry Kane always kisses his wedding ring. Cute.”
Harry and his wife Kate are childhood sweethearts. The couple started dating in 2005, but had known each other for longer than that and even posed for a picture with David Beckham seven years earlier.
Harry has discussed their bond, saying: “When I was at school she was my friend. We always spoke but just got closer and closer and it went from there.”
“She’s seen my whole career. Of course she thinks it’s a little crazy.”
The couple are proud parents of four children, two daughters and two sons. The couple welcomed their first daughter Ivy in 2018, followed by second daughter Vivienne in 2018. They then had two sons, Louis and Henry.
The family now live in Germany after Harry signed for Bayern Munich, with Kate often sharing glimpses of their family life there.
Kate has traveled to the US to support Harry and the England team along with other WAGs such as Megan PickfordTolami Benson, who is engaged to Bukayo Saka and Ollie Watkins’ wife Ellie.
